Highmark Environmental Services Ltd. has been in Fort St. John for over 25 years and started providing environmental consulting services primarily to the upstream oil and gas industry. In the last 10 years, we have diversified our services to include the transportation, mining, forestry, civil, and commercial/industrial sectors.   Highmark Environmental Services Ltd. is looking to fill the full-time position of environmental technician/supervisor. The role is geared towards individuals with an appreciation for hard work; a strong desire for professional growth; and a willingness to learn new things to develop their career. We are providing a unique opportunity for individuals with oilfield experience, who are looking to further develop their career in environmental sciences and start in a supervisory role. The role will primarily be 70% field work and 30% office work.   Initial Position Overview • Be able to fulfill a supervisory role by being able to work independently or as a member of a team and make critical decisions under challenging timelines • Be comfortable and confident in speaking with and answering clients' questions in the field for multimillion-dollar projects • Be familiar and have experience with: ⥤ environmental drilling programs, including — drilling, soil/water sampling, taking detailed notes, and compiling all data into software programs such as excel, word, etc. ⥤ ecological assessments (stream/wetland, wildlife surveys, bird and amphibian sweeps) ⥤ stage 1 and 2 contaminated site investigations ⥤ soil and groundwater assessments ⥤ spill response ⥤ surface casing vent testing and gas migration tests ⥤ contained surface water discharges ⥤ electromagnetic surveys ⥤ reclamation assessments • Be willing and able to work in remote locations under extreme conditions (+40 °C to -40 °C) and from mountains to muskeg • Supervise and mentor junior individuals • Be comfortable and certified in operating ATV/UTV/snowmobiles (training/certification information available if required)   Requirements • A degree in environmental science or diploma equivalent, with 3 years of relevant experience. • All candidates seeking employment with Highmark Environmental Services Ltd. must have the following: ⥤ All applicable safety tickets and drivers abstract ⥤ Safety tickets required for all employment with Highmark Environmental Services Ltd., such as: ⚈ PST ⚈ WHMIS ⚈ Ground Disturbance Level 2 ⚈ H2S Alive ⚈ Level One First Aid with Transportation Endorsement   Assets • Newer 4x4 vehicle • Computer • Communications

The role is geared towards individuals with a strong desire for professional growth; a willingness to learn new things; to develop their career and share an appreciation for hard work. ​ Highmark Environmental Services Ltd. is seeking to provide a unique opportunity for an individual, with line-locating experience, who is looking to further develop their career in environmental sciences and start in a junior role/assistant and work their way up to a supervisory role.   Initial Position Overview • Provide line locating services and be able to work independently and as a team member • Train under the direct supervision of Highmark Environmental Services Ltd.’s lead environmental supervisors to become first an assistant and, in time, take on more of a supervisory role • Assist and train in the following: ⥤ Environmental drilling programs, including drilling, soil/water sampling, taking detailed notes, and compiling all data into software programs such as Excel, Word, etc. ⥤ Ecological assessments (stream/wetland, wildlife surveys, bird, and amphibian sweeps) ⥤ Stage 1 and 2 contaminated site investigations ⥤ Soil and groundwater assessments ⥤ Stream and wetland assessments ⥤ Spill response ⥤ Surface casing vent testing and gas migration tests ⥤ Pumpoffs ⥤ Electromagnetic surveys ⥤ Reclamation assessments • Be willing and able to work in remote locations under sometimes extreme conditions (+40 °C to -40 °C) and from mountains to muskeg • Be comfortable and certified in operating ATV/UTV/snowmobiles (training/certification information available if required)   Requirements • 5+ years of experience in line locating and oilfield experience • Valid general oilfield safety tickets (1st aid, H2S, line locating)   Assets • Although not required, post-secondary education in earth or environmental sciences or working towards a diploma or professional designation • Report writing and good knowledge of programs such as: excel, word, ArcGIS, and the use of GPS • Good mechanical aptitude • Ability to think critically and work hard and long hours • Heavy equipment operating experience • Physically fit • Willing to become a subcontractor

Requirements • College technical diploma or degree in GIS or mapping, with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience • Knowledge of computer operating systems and equipment such as ArcInfo, ArcGIS, Microstation, AutoCAD, Global Mapper, FME, and high-speed printers and plotters

• Degree in biological sciences or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered • Candidates must be registered as Professional Biologist (RPBio) with the BC College of Applied Biology or, eligible to become a professional biologist within 6 months of appointment • Experience in conducting environmental monitoring and assessments
